MORE LEADERSHIP SUCCESS FOR BOB HOLT OBE
Bob Holt OBE
As the end of 2018 approaches, Bob Holt’s business and philanthropic efforts result in another truly successful year.
In January, one of Bob’s charities The Footprints Foundation began its South Africa 2018 programme. Bob produced teams of volunteers to start work on a number of projects including a ‘Sight Initiative’. He brought Carmel Noonan, Consultant Ophthalmologist at Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, to South Africa where a very professional registration and triage was carried out on Gogo’s (Grannies) and youngsters.
Over 600 pairs of glasses were brought over from the UK and distributed. Improved vision for over 350 people was accomplished. These people would otherwise not have access to eye care.
The impact was life changing for many including the restoration of eyesight to some children who had been unable to see as a result of cataracts. The Footprints Foundation funded the operations. Bob intends to widen this project, as a result of having changed so many lives.
He was extremely impressed by the professionalism of the project from start to finish and applauds the outstanding work of Carmel and the team at Footprints. “I cannot thank Carmel and the teams involved in this initiative enough. The results speak volumes and I intend to do much more of this work in the future”
There was an awful lot of building work going on to benefit communities this year. Bob’s volunteers built a magnificent church to serve the community at Orange Farm; a township located approximately 45 km from Johannesburg, Gauteng Province. At the Khaya Centres, Bob and his team of volunteers built and refurbished many properties within the community of 10,000 homes.
Close to the Grasmere Tollgate, Gauteng, lays the Meriting squatter camp. Here the volunteers helped the 1,000 people to lead better lives by providing a community hub.
Bob’s work is endless – but this year alone he has supported 20 individual UK charities as well as touching the lives of many thousands of people in South Africa.
However, his work doesn’t stop there. Bob’s leadership skills in the UK business arena are well known. His track record of turning around underperforming companies led to even more success this year.
When Bob joined Sureserve PLC to take over the day to day control in July 2016, he focused on results and by January this year, the company finalised its restructuring programme and was able to report an excellent end to 2017. Bob’s leadership positioned the company for growth. By the 2017 year end, the Group had contributed 21% of revenue growth. The company achieved an impressive £580m in new wins with an order book that increased from £532m to £631m.
Another fantastic achievement for Bob this year was with Totally PLC. Bob joined Totally, the provider of a range of out-of-hospital services to the healthcare sector, as Chairman in September 2015. His leadership has resulted in almost unprecedented results.
Vocare, a wholly owned subsidiary of Totally, has improved the Royal Stoke Urgent Care Centre service by two Care Quality Commission ratings in six months; moving it from ‘Inadequate’ to ‘Good’. This results in Staffordshire now being rated ‘Good’ across the board. There are no longer any ‘Inadequate’ ratings across the entirety of the Vocare group’s 24 services.
Vocare Limited is one of the UK’s leading national specialist providers of urgent care services and manages NHS 111, GP Out of Hours and Urgent Care Centre services for Staffordshire. These results are testimony to the considerable and tangible progress that Vocare has made to all of its services in one year since its acquisition.
With a flawless history of leadership success, we can look forward to more from Bob, before the end of 2018 and hope for many more thousands of beneficiaries in 2019.
