LONG SUMMER BRINGS BEACH OLYMPICS TO COSTA DEL SOL

Press Release 22 September 2021
With the forecast that summer will see no end just yet, organisers have brought this year’s Beach Olympics to Marbella on the Costa del Sol.
The event will raise crucial funds for Collective Calling, a charity that provides emergency life-saving intervention for street children. With a strong focus on Spain, the charity aims to overcome some of the effects of recent traumas such as COVID19.
With Spain continuing to have the highest rate of unemployment throughout the whole of Europe, the country faces overwhelming poverty levels.
Collective Calling will help families who have endured desperate situations and help them move from poverty to prosperity.
The charity has an enduring approach; parents who have identified to be living within a situation of poverty are enrolled into the charity’s ’empowerment program’ that is designed to help prepare people to re-enter or enter the workplace for the first time. It also gives people the tools to cope emotionally in times of stress, instils confidence and self-worth.
It is important to all of us that we realise the value of our fundraising efforts. In 2020, 91% of Collective Callings total operating expenses were used towards programs that support children and parents living in poverty.
Beach Olympics Marbella has been designed to bring a day of fun for everyone whilst, most importantly, raising funds so that the charity may continue to operate its maximum impact programs.
The organizers have created a great mix of activities including the main ‘olympic’ team challenges. Anyone may enter a team of a minimum of 5 people and maximum of 10. Each member of that team may be at any fitness level.
The day itself is expected to be blessed with the famous Costa del Sol sunshine and will kick off at 11:00 (Teams need to be there by 10:30 latest) at Paradise Beach, Puerto Banus. Registration deadline is Friday 24th September!
DJ Verox will be gracing the decks, snacks and drinks will be sold and of course tables at the local chiringuitos can be reserved for a meal following the activities which is due to end around 14:00.
Local individuals and businesses have been incredibly supportive so far – all in the name of GIVING and so; a huge thanks goes to: FIA HORNCASTLE AND MARIE RODONI for organizing on behalf of Collective Calling, OLINA ERIKSSON, Personal Trainer who has kindly designed all the sporting activities, MIKES GYM who will be providing equipment on the day.
Further great sponsorships have been provided by: Costa Spine who will be offering treatment at a special rate, donating to the charity as well as a prize for the raffle. Eleiko who has donated a gift to EVERY participant! CrossFit Marbella, Reebok Hybrid, Phos Food, Boho Club, KineQi, Ida Warg, Pocket Pilates and Matias Padel coach have all donated prizes.
Sponsorships are still growing, the event is getting bigger, teams are excited to participate and locals are planning a day at the beach if not to take part, then to Cheer for Charity.
